Day 2 at work

As you probably know the first 2 weeks in Usa are the hardest. Yesterday morning I was a bit down because I am still adapting to the new time zone. I was like what am I doin here?:)))) than I took the ferry to work sleeping all the way there. We got some crazy uniforms not that fashionable and I got the answer to were I would work. I'm on Liberty Island, the island with th statue! I work in food service and luckyly outside as a cashier. I hope it stays that was as so I have the most beautiful view ever! i'm just at a hot dog stand on the left of the statue and I can wear shorts:D

(@Iulia: remember the time when we visited we had some burgers at a kios? Now It's kind of where I work.)

It's so far really good! The HR team here cares about us and we get to go out for dinner with the founder of the company!Isn't it great?!

I'm just getting to like New york. Last evening I had a short walk to central park. I am a bit amazed cause the buildings are so high the sun can reach u and it's not thatt hot.

I'm out.See you soon!

My first day at work

I have to admit I feel extremly tired and overwhelmed with all that is happening at this moments. I'm sorry for my post yesterday that was a bit "dizzy" but I'll try organize it better. So to beginn with my roomate is chinese and her english name is Angel which is already a good sign. We all live in a house with 2 appartments. There are people from Romania, Jordan and China as far as I know. It is how it is Today I had my first day at work. I was very surprised. We filled out paper work and than we were send just to hang around there by having the audio guide tour of the ellis museum and statue of liberty than we had our free lunch and afterwards we saw 2 movies about the islands. Pretty easy, isn't it? And still I got paid for the day! If you wonder what I am going to work I still don't know it yet! I have to go >:d< i miss my 2009 usa crew!

Why USA this summer? Why New York?

Some of you might wonder why I took this decision. I have a pretty interesting life around Bucharest with a nice job, amazing friends, a place to sleep, all in all just beautiful. Still, I decided to at least try #makeitcount

Photo: Copyright: www.photochic.roI will soon graduate and this was the last chance to enrol in this Summer program. I've been before to USA and it was one of the best experiences ever. Somehow I'm sad no one is going to come with me but I'm just going to enjoy it myself.

What I plan to do this Summer is more than partying, shopping and traveling. I will work at Ellis Island but at the same time I want to start working as a volunteer at a non-profit organisation it might be either Charity-Water or a different Project who knows. I am prepared for everything or at least at this moment I think so.

I plan on visiting Chicago and my friend Bigica there, Hawaii or Miami, see a NBA game, go to the Lady Gaga concert at Madison Square Garden and hopefully catch also a Coldplay, Scouting for Girls or Florence and the Machine concert. I also want to discover the New York night-life scene, eat the best burger in town, stop a cab, fall in love  and much more.

After I finish working and volunteering if it all works out I will go visit one of my best friend in Mexico and probably fly for a few days in Brazil.

I wrote it down so I won't forget what I had in mind for this Summer.

Almost there

I feel it coming. Everywhere I look I see New York. I have to admit though that I am a bit scared. I still have to look for housing in New York but I'm confident it will all work out just fine as our Sponsor is very involved and supportive.
